Born in South Wales, Andrew Williams known as Drew established his business in furniture making in 1979. From an early age, Drew learned the skills passed on to him by his Grandfather a master craftsman in cabinet making and french polishing, making his first stools and tables at the age of twelve. By the time he left school, he was already an accomplished furniture maker and received his first major commission at the age of nineteen for the Glen Yr Afon Hotel in Usk. This commission was to design and make a round dining table to seat sixteen people for their library, together with bookcases, library steps and side tables. An early influence in his work was his father Peter Williams FRIBA, a well respected London based Architect, helping to develop a constant questioning of design and aesthetics relating to spatial awareness and function of the intended piece of furniture or room interior. Combining these skills of design concept through to producing the finished piece of furniture or project is achieved through a true understanding of how to make furniture.
Drew is best known for his kitchen designs, creating bespoke areas in which the client can cook, socialize and spend time, expressing their personality and how they wish to live.
Drew works closely with his wife Sian, also from an art and design background, with a passion for cooking and an all-embracing knowledge of working in a kitchen. They have four children, two of which now work alongside them in the business.
The first published feature of one of Drew's kitchens was in Country Living magazine in 1989 when he was asked to create a kitchen for an exhibition of American hardwoods. Other features since have included Elle Decoration magazine, Beautiful Homes and 25 Beautiful Kitchens.
